For the eighth consecutive year, employees from LAN Associates teamed with the Sussex County Trails Partnership, a Sussex County Chamber of Commerce committee, for a day of trail restoration. Led by New Jersey State Park representatives, volunteers joined together to improve trail conditions for the park.
LAN volunteers, including land use professionals, environmental professionals, and surveyors traveled to Newton, New Jersey to assist with various cleanup projects, including removing debris from park trails, clearing overgrown shrubbery on walking paths, and power washing park walls.
“This is a day that we look forward to every year,” says volunteer Chris Guddemi, Director of Land Use at LAN Associates. “It allows LAN to give back to the community, while learning about the rich history of the Skylands region.”
Since 2011, LAN has volunteered with the Sussex County Trails Partnership to revitalize various trail paths. With over 20 years of professional architectural and engineering services for the State Park department, LAN has developed a special appreciation for parks throughout New Jersey. Many volunteers have worked on projects for the New Jersey Parks & Forestry, and take the opportunity to give back to local parks to maintain their beauty and history.
The Sussex County Chamber of Commerce organized the event to coordinate the clean-up event. The Sussex County Trail Partnership holds restoration events four times per year, and are open to volunteers from the public.
