LAN Assists VFW Post with Historic Cemetery Site
March 18, 2014
Located on First Street in Ho-Ho-Kus, New Jersey resides the historic Hopper-Zabriskie Cemetery, also known as the “Old Burying Ground.” This family cemetery was founded around 1792 by the Hopper family, with the earliest gravestone marked “Garret Hopper” and the latest burial gravestone of “Garret Zabriskie” marked 75 years later in 1867. After roughly a century of being poorly maintained, the Washington Elm VFW Post 192 of Ho-Ho-Kus-Ridgewood (www.vfwpost192-nj.com) voted to take on this historical area as a Post project in 2005.
