LAN Associates was nationally recognized by Learning By Design for its design excellence for the Alpine Public School. The Outstanding Project Award honors Alpine Public School for excellence in educational facility design and 21st century learning. Learning By Design is the premier source for education, design, innovation and excellence. The Alpine Public School was recognized for its overall plan, architectural design and for having holistic design attributes worthy of imitation.
The Alpine School project included renovations and additions including a new state-of-the-art performing arts center, music room, main offices, improved circulation, and an exterior instructional courtyard. The new performing arts addition was designed to house the district’s performing arts curriculum as well as functioning as a multi-purpose room and community center for the town. The design of the performing arts center included an exterior courtyard, the “living learning center” served to function as an enhanced outdoor learning space for environmental sciences.
“It is always a great honor to be recognized for quality work from industry peers,” commented Jim Sanders of LAN Associates, Project Architect of the Alpine Public School project, “especially when it comes to our work with schools and universities, where we know the project will directly benefit the local community.”
The publication’s distinguished jury of architects and end-users commended LAN Associates for its success in designing the Alpine Public School. Projects are judged on six criteria: innovation, community need, interior design, sustainability, functional design, and 21st century learning. Projects that exemplify contemporary standards and contain design attributes seen in new space design are recognized as Outstanding.
