The Commerce and Industry Association of New Jersey (CIANJ) and COMMERCE Magazine honored companies in the business for their environmental leadership at the first annual Environmental Leaders event on April 26, 2019. The event showcased the vast depth of environmental work achieved throughout the State of New Jersey.

Fifty companies were recognized for various efforts in environmental leadership, including recycling, pollution prevention, green building design, environmental conservation, energy conservation, community impact, manufacturing innovation, and brownfield redevelopment.

“Being recognized for our environmental leadership by CIANJ is truly a great honor,” said Chris Guddemi, Director of Land Use Regulation Services at LAN. “Whether that is achieved through sustainable design, safety programs, or remediation processes, protecting the environment is always a priority at LAN.”

Currently, LAN is working on two solar development projects which aim to reduce our reliance on fossil fuels and carbon emissions.  Once complete, these solar farms should provide enough clean renewable electricity to power hundreds of households annually.

Our thorough understanding of the environment and its influence on our communities allows us to place the environment at the forefront of every LAN design. With twenty-two in-house Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certified professionals, LAN’s approach to “going green” incorporates many initiatives, including the reduction of Green House Gas emissions and air pollutants, energy efficient design, and sustainable design, that create healthier spaces for all.

“CIANJ has a long history in the environmental industry,” said CIANJ President, Anthony Russo. “We wanted to honor the leaders for their accomplishments and dedication.”

More than 150 professionals, including engineers and licensed site remediation professionals, gathered at the Glen Ridge Country Club for the first annual event. CIANJ boasts over 900 corporate members from various sectors, many of whom sit on the Environmental Business Council (EBC), the state’s largest environmental trade group. Nominations were submitted to CIANJ and winners were published in last month’s edition of COMMERCE, the organization’s magazine.
