LAN Associates first opened its Goshen, New York office in 1999 and soon established itself as a local institution. With countless New York natives on staff, the team was the perfect fit for public and private clients looking for an architecture and engineering firm big enough to handle any job, but small enough to ensure their project received the personalized attention to detail expected from a local firm.
For over 20 years LAN has assisted The Mission Church in Holmes, New York with creating and implementing a multi-phased expansion designed to accommodate their growing congregation.
Phase 1 consisted of a 2,700 sf lobby and a 6,000 sf classroom addition. The lobby provides a comfortable gathering space between services which is complemented by a new café serving area, seating area and retail kiosk.
After completion of the first phase, attendance expanded exponentially. To meet this new demand, LAN updated the master plan with a phase 2 expansion that included a new 20,000 sf building that will house a new high-tech worship space with an 800-person capacity. The design of the sanctuary addition will focus on the quality of the interior and worship space.
In 2017, after a $30.4 million-dollar first vote approved bond referendum funded an addition and major renovations to Goshen High School, LAN was retained to design the improvements.
As the district’s architect of record, LAN was familiar with the campus and got right to work. Upgrades included a new multi-functional addition, state-of-the-art athletic complex, a new wing of classrooms, a STEAM lab, cafeteria, kitchen, and auditorium.
A new main entrance addition was seamlessly integrated with the interior circulation of the existing building. The designs of the new open lobby, concourses, and the northern classrooms, take full advantage of the natural light provided by the bordering 4,800 sf courtyard.
Theatrical productions and community events have a new home in a renovated 8,000 sf auditorium with leading edge design and functionality. The project also involved a complete revitalization of the school’s athletic facilities. Synthetic turf and lighting on two new athletic fields provide the ability for continuous use day or night, and a new 450 sf press box is mounted on top of the new 1,500 seat grandstand.
