Recreational Facilities at Oakland School District

Oakland Board of Education retained LAN to perform civil engineering services to help provide four new playgrounds located across three of their schools. LAN’s services included topographic surveying, site design, grading, stormwater management, permitting, and construction administration.

LAN worked with the school administration and a playground equipment consultant to design various playground layouts specific to the needs for each school. All the playgrounds were designed with fun and striking colors that invite a playful nature, while rubberized safety surfacing that provides fall protection ensures that playtime is safe. A similar playground layout was chosen for three of Oakland’s elementary schools, while a separate, more age appropriate, playground design was provided for their pre-school.
