The College of New Jersey Packer Hall

Project Overview

In order to pursue their goal in fostering an environment for diverse experiential, co-curricular, and extracurricular programs for their students, The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) decided to renovate and enhance Packer Hall, the College’s centerpiece. LAN was retained to provide functional and aesthetic enhancements to Packer Hall’s Hall of Champions, the toilet rooms serving the Hall of Champions, and the athletics weight room. LAN provided architecture, interior design, MEP engineering, and construction administrative services.

The Hall of Champions, a two-story volume corridor, serves as a link between buildings on campus. To celebrate the College’s rich athletic history, the renovation features custom display cases that showcase the College’s athletic achievements to visitors, current students, and prospective students. A custom graphics package was installed including new physical, digital, and graphic displays featuring new branding. Specialty lighting was also provided.

The varsity weight room will enhance the College’s athletic department’s mission to deliver modern, cutting edge amenities to their student-athletes. New training equipment was installed. The student athlete lounge received alterations to provide hospitality and comfort to students looking to unwind in between classes and practice. The space provides a warm, welcoming, and inclusive area for students, while also fostering a sense of ownership and pride in the College.

Alterations to numerous toilet facilities provide ADA/barrier free accommodations, appeal, and convenience to all building visitors and students.
