Blue Acres Demolitions

Project Overview

In 2014, LAN began a long term and ongoing working relationship with the Division of Property Management and Construction (DPMC), who carries out work on behalf of the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP). LAN provides design consultant services related to the organization’s Blue Acres Acquisition Program.

Blue Acres dedicates funds to the acquisition of land that lies in the floodways of major NJ rivers and their respective tributaries for conservation purposes. LAN’s environmental services department works with the initiative on restoring the acquired flood zone properties to their natural state before the land was developed.

LAN’s services have included preparing plans and specifications for demolition, preparing construction cost estimates, providing bid and award assistance, and providing construction administration. As part of these services, LAN subcontracted asbestos surveys and sampling for the properties to be demolished. These demolition projects included asbestos abatement.

The funding for these demolitions has been from various sources, including the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) as well as the Housing and the Urban Development (HUD) Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program
