Over the past 16 years, LAN has assisted The Mission Church in Holmes, New York with creating and implementing a multi-phased expansion designed to accommodate their growing congregation.
LAN first performed a feasibility study and a space needs assessment analysis to plan how best to meet The Mission Church’s needs. A master plan was formulated to reallocate spaces within the existing building to the phased addition.
Phase 1 consisted of a 2,700 sf lobby and a 6,000 sf classroom addition. The lobby provides a comfortable gathering space between services which is complemented by a new café serving area, seating area and retail kiosk. The 6,000 sf classroom addition has three classrooms, a multi-purpose room, conference room and several administrative offices. A pergola was installed on the front of the classroom addition to reduce solar heat gain, and other site improvements such as additional parking were addressed.
After completion of the first phase, attendance expanded exponentially. To meet this new demand, LAN updated the master plan with a phase 2 expansion that included a new 20,000 sf building that will house a new high-tech worship space with an 800-person capacity. The design of the sanctuary addition will focus on the quality of the interior and worship space.
LAN provided The Mission Church with a rendering to help present the vision of the project to their congregation in support of their fundraising campaign. Phase 1 was completed in 2014 and The Mission Church is currently raising capital for the second phase of the project.
