West Orange Board of Education: UST Removal Project

Project Overview

The West Orange Board of Education retained LAN Associates to provide professional engineering and environmental services in accordance with the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) technical requirements for site remediation and the underground storage tank (UST) regulations. The scope of work included the removal of the inactive 10,000-gallon No. 2 heating oil USTs at the Pleasantdale School and the Roosevelt Middle School. LAN prepared contract drawings and specifications for public bidding for the complete removal of the UST systems, associated contaminated soil, and site restoration. LAN also performed the environmental investigations associated with each of the tank removals including soil sampling, and NJDEP reporting. Upon completion, LAN’s staff Licensed Site Remediation Professional (LSRP) issued a Response Action Outcome (RAO) to close the cases with the NJDEP.
