Stepping into a critical role in a company with a long and successful history is a challenge. It comes with the expectation that you will simultaneously fill the shoes of your predecessor and breathe new life into the department under your purview. When Matthew Wolfe took over the New Jersey Architecture Department at LAN Associates, he did just that. On Tuesday, November 30th he was recognized for his accomplishments when he was honored by NJBIZ with an award in the architect category in their Leaders in Real Estate, Construction & Design ceremony!

“It’s an honor to be recognized by NJBIZ alongside such a talented group of professionals,” said Wolfe when asked about his win. “When I came on board at LAN, I was given the tools, freedom, and support I needed to succeed. LAN put their trust in me, like they do all their staff, and I share this achievement with the support staff and leadership team at LAN, without whom my success would not have been possible.”

Matt was hired in 2019 with a directive to recruit top industry talent and grow LAN’s client base through service expansion and the strategic pursuit of new market sectors. He has already opened new revenue streams by establishing an interior design department to work side by side with LAN’s architectural team, and by expanding current services into new markets such as commercial banking, commercial interiors, and hospitality.

“When the leadership team at LAN started the search for a new person to run the Architecture Department at our corporate headquarters in Midland Park, we knew we had work cut out for us,” said LAN President Ken Karle. “We knew we not only needed a talented architect, but also a person with the leadership, management, and business development skills to handle the multi-faceted position. This award is well deserved and is further confirmation that we made the right choice putting our faith in Matt.”

As an Assistant Vice President and head of LAN Associates’ New Jersey Architecture Department, Matt Wolfe oversees the design of over $50M in projects each year. He manages the firm’s largest division and serves as a project manager for some of the firm’s largest projects that include LAN’s full-service team of engineers, surveyors, environmental scientists, and interior designers. Matt’s combination of technical expertise, creative artistic talent, and business development acumen make him exactly the type of “seller doer” every firm needs to be successful.

Matt sets the pace for a highly reputable and successful architecture and engineering firm. He has a diverse architectural portfolio and is an established industry player who works alongside key stakeholders to take projects from conception to completion.

2021 was the inaugural year for NJBIZ’s Leaders in Real Estate, Construction & Design Awards. The ceremony, which celebrated the achievements of architects, developers, engineers, contractors, and real estate professionals was held virtually due to social distancing concerns.
