After a 2020 in which the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry was mired in uncertainty, 2021 is shaping up to be quite a growth year for full-service architectural and engineering firm LAN Associates. NJBIZ recently announced their list of top Architecture Firms in New Jersey, and LAN Associates was among those noted. LAN was ranked 24th in terms of numbers of licensed architects on staff, and since the headcount was taken, LAN has continued to expand its pool of talent.
“We have seen an uptick of new projects of all sizes stream through the door in the last six months,” said LAN President Ken Karle, who is both a Registered Architect and Professional Engineer. “We are fortunate to have waded through the uncertainly of 2020 and are making waves with a re-awakening of stalled projects, a steady influx of new clients and exciting projects across the education, hospitality, and non-profit markets.”
Recent years have been marked by expansion for LAN Associates. The full-service firm has expanded locations with new offices in Voorhees, NJ and Bethlehem, PA, while at the same time expanding into new market sectors. The growth also comes on the heels of LAN’s decision to bring interior design services in-house to support architecture projects. As a result of a steady increase of significant projects, LAN has grown its ranks by 8% since the start of 2021, with more positions open and soon to be filled in the coming weeks and months.
LAN also garnered notoriety recently when New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy chose LAN’s newly completed Ross Street Elementary school project in Woodbridge as the location of the press event at which he signed the state’s largest ever budget into law. LAN’s design of the new three story 87,000 sf school was completed in 2021. The design is focused on providing a 21st century learning environment with flexible learning spaces infused with technology. The building is centered around a large atrium courtyard that provides natural light to hallways and classrooms.
LAN also recently wrapped up a significant project in the senior living sector, The Vista at Christian Health. This 400,000 sf full-service senior living facility is comprised of hundreds of independent living apartments, as well as two dining locations, a fitness center, pool, spa facilities, and more. LAN made good use of their full-service capabilities with in-house architectural, civil engineering, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering, environmental services, land use, surveying, and construction administration professionals all contributing to its completion.
With over 56 years of experience, LAN has cemented its position as a market leader in the AEC industry. In 2021 LAN will further this reputation as it expands in size and diversity of projects. NJBIZ is a leading New Jersey business publication with a wide print circulation and an extensive online presence. LAN has been on the publication’s top architecture firms list since 2017.
