Gatehouse Restoration at Fairleigh Dickinson University

Project Overview

LAN Associates provided professional architecture and engineering services for the restoration and repair of the Fairleigh Dickinson University Gatehouse Building located at the Florham Campus in Madison, New Jersey. The building is utilized by the college as a credit union on the first floor and academic offices on the second.

The project entailed restoration of the masonry envelope and included a full height second floor addition with a new roof structure, dormers, chimney reconstruction, repointing, quoins, windows, interior partitions, and doors. The overall aesthetics of the building were tailored to the new design.

LAN provided field documentation of the existing building including a report outlining the deficiencies and repairs necessary to extend the life of the building. LAN also provided construction administration services, including shop drawing submittal review, addressing latent field conditions, and addressing contractor’s requests for information.

The project included ADA accessibility upgrades and improvements that were provided to the gatehouse entry and building. Other site improvements included walkways, lighting, bollards, cobblestone edging along drives, macadam repairs, handicapped parking stalls and ADA signage.
