In the architecture and engineering industry, success is earned by forging a strong local reputation, building trust with clients, and delivering innovative, creative designs that help shape the community you serve. On June 9, LAN Associates Vice President Ron Schwenke was recognized by NJBIZ with its Leader in Real Estate, Construction, and Design Award.
In 2019, Schwenke was tasked with expanding LAN’s presence in southern New Jersey. In an industry where major projects often carry price tags in the tens of millions, opening a new architecture office is no small feat. Clients expect a proven track record of local experience before awarding work. He and his team had their work cut out for them, but under his guidance, they went right to work building regional credibility from the ground up. Seven years and several major projects later, their success is evident, culminating in this well-earned recognition from NJBIZ for Schwenke’s leadership and impact.
Schwenke has played a key role in shaping LAN Associates’ growth since joining the full-service firm, serving as an architect, a team leader, and, most recently, a Vice President. Since opening LAN’s southern NJ office, he has led his regional team through a period of exceptional growth, increasing revenue by 900% between 2020 and 2025 and growing staff by 500% to support more than $300M in active construction projects across the region. His leadership has expanded the firm’s regional client base across educational, municipal, state, and private-sector partners.
“I’m honored to be recognized, and I consider this award to be both a testament to the relationships we’ve built with clients and the hard work my team puts in every day,” said Schwenke when asked about the award. “Growing our presence in southern New Jersey has been incredibly rewarding, and we’re proud of the impact our projects are making.”
Schwenke’s role also sees him actively involved in firm-wide business development, strategic planning, and the cultivation of the long-term client relationships that continue to drive LAN’s success.
“Ron has played a critical role in shaping our presence in southern New Jersey, and his business insights are invaluable to the strategic direction of the firm as a whole. He leads with integrity, builds strong teams, and consistently delivers for our clients,” said LAN Associates President Tom Wighard. “We’re incredibly proud of what he’s accomplished and grateful to have him as part of our leadership.”
Schwenke’s work is closely tied to the communities of southern New Jersey, with a portfolio that emphasizes public and educational projects designed to deliver lasting impact. Over the last few years, he has guided numerous school districts through complex bond referendums, including Haddonfield’s $46.7 million district-wide initiative, West Deptford’s $89.9 million multi-school improvement program, and Willingboro’s $67.9 million referendum. This is in addition to his municipal work, such as the design of Edgewater Park’s new 17,500-square-foot Police and Court Building, a multifaceted facility supported by federal grants.
Schwenke’s career is defined by three core strengths: team leadership, business development, and creative architectural design. His ability to balance these disciplines has been instrumental in LAN’s expansion into southern New Jersey. Equally important, he remains committed to his clients and colleagues while upholding the high standard of innovation and service that defines LAN Associates.
