Last Thursday, November 12, 2015 Christian Health Care Center (CHCC) celebrated the grand opening of two (2) advanced patient and resident care buildings on campus. The new David F. Bolger Post-Acute Care Unit (PACU), a 11,400 sf addition offers concentrated rehabilitation therapy and skilled-nursing services to help patients transition back home following a hospitalization. As such, the addition includes a unique transitional suite, modeled after a typical residential home to allow patients the opportunity to practice tasks that are essential to independent living.  A large gymnasium sits at the back of the addition, where patients can exercise on various physical therapy equipment. A virtual room is provided to allow for a Wii station. Additional treatment rooms are on the perimeter of the space, for private appointments, while the lower floor is programmed with offices for the CHCC staff.

In addition, LAN was contracted by CHCC to provide a 12,000 sf addition and renovations to their existing nursing unit, Heritage Manor West (HMW) which employs key principles of the Green House Models. The Green House Model is a radically new model for skilled-nursing care that returns control, dignity and a sense of well-being to elders, their families and direct care staff. The common spaces are designed with a family-like atmosphere, allowing residents to be able to sit in a living or dining room that resembles their home. In addition, the kitchen allows residents to take part in preparing food and engaging in more activities associated with home living. The exterior was designed to transform an institutional building into one with residential massing and detailing.
